Lightning is a battle expert with mastery of gun, sword, hand-to-hand, and magic based combat. She knows little about herself, she doesn’t even know her real name. What is known about Lightning’s past is that she used to be a high ranking official in an organization of some kind. Lightning has been chosen to bring an end to a world, which is feared by all, known as Pulse. She is now an enemy to all of man kind. She is seen in the E3 2006 trailer fighting off countless amounts of enemies, using a weapon that can transform from a sword to a gun and back again.

Previously known as Mr.33 cm, Snow is the leader of a resistance group called Team Nora, and one of Lightning's companions. Snow has been seen using some kind of machine gun, as well as his bare hands in battle.

Not very much is known about this character, except that she is engaged to Snow and is the younger sister of Lightning.

Jihl is one of the games antagonists; she works for the Holy Government and commands the PSICOM soldiers. She seems to have a cold and uncaring personality, however her intentions towards Lightning and company, are still relatively unknown.
